Privacy & Affiliate Disclosure
Effective: September 10, 2026. This page explains how the current 404foundme naming and domain discovery service handles data and registrar referrals.
The current free Name Lab generates name directions in your browser. The business idea and style fields used for name generation are not sent to our server by the Name Lab.
1. Browser data
The site may keep a limited local history of tool events in your browser's local storage so the interface can function and be tested. You can remove this data by clearing site data in your browser.
Saved-name shortlists
When you choose Save name, up to 12 selected names are kept in this browser’s local storage so they remain available across our tools. They are not uploaded to a 404foundme account. You can clear the shortlist with Clear shortlist or remove this site’s browser data. Copying and exporting happen only when you choose those actions. Blocked storage or private browsing may prevent persistence.
2. Registrar referral analytics
When approved affiliate links are active and you choose to continue to a registrar, 404foundme may record the selected domain candidate, language, page path, registrar partner and event time. These events are used to measure which naming tools and registrar routes are useful.
Referral event records are stored using Cloudflare infrastructure and are configured to expire automatically within 90 days. We do not intentionally store payment-card data or registrar account passwords.
3. External registrars
Domain availability, pricing, registration, payment, ownership and account management are handled by the external registrar you choose to visit. Their privacy policy and terms apply once you leave 404foundme.
4. Affiliate disclosure
Some outbound registrar links may be affiliate links. If you complete a qualifying purchase after using one of those links, 404foundme may receive a commission from the registrar. This does not add a separate fee to the price you pay the registrar.
5. Domain and trademark notice
A generated name or suggested domain is an idea only. 404foundme does not guarantee domain availability, trademark clearance, legal suitability or ownership. Always verify the domain with the registrar and perform appropriate trademark and legal checks before adopting a name.
6. Changes
This notice will be updated if 404foundme adds accounts, direct checkout, additional analytics, paid naming services or other data-processing features.
